Team Phillips...at it again! (and Oktoberfest)

Another Phillips family 5k!

This is our second race to do as a family and I still say it's one of my favorite family events while our kids are these little ages.  I never would have thought that would be true...3 kids 3 and under in a race?  But they LOVE it and so do we!

Trav told them about it the day before (because he found out about it and signed up for it the day before...true Phillips style!).  Travis told them we'd get up early in the morning and go.  Ellie immediately said, "Ok, let's go to bed!"  First of all the words, "Let's go to bed" have never ever come out of Ellie Phillips' mouth...but the fact that it was 5pm made it even more hilarious.

They were really pumped about it because they were going to get their own bib numbers and chips for their shoe...and their own shirts.  They absolutely loved it.

 We made it!  We got the big girls out of the strollers for the last 25 yds or so and let them run across the finish line themselves.  We all held hands and did it together...wish I had a pic of that! 

They did a great job of cheering on "Team Phillips" along the way!

This was Emily's second race as well and she did great!

The race was a the kick off for Oktoberfest in Tempe so we stuck around for the rest of the morning for some of the events and activities.

Such a fun family Saturday morning especially in the midst of the busyness of our lives right now.  I love doing things that teach the kids that our family is a team...we are all in it together.  We really value this idea.  Always for each other, helping each other, working together, supporting each other...etc.  What better way to build this in than a family race!
