One thing I've learned from my mother-in-law is how to make a big deal about everything from birthdays to graduations and everything in between by the way she decorates! Whenever we've been at her house for someone's birthday or special day she always takes great care in setting the table (usually the night before after everyone is in bed)...she is always prepared with candles, hats, cards, presents, cake, whatever the occasion, she makes you feel special.
So I've decided to follow her lead and worked to make Gracie's birthday breakfast table a special one! It may not look as good as hers does, but this was my best effort! I made a breakfast birthday cake that I had read about in Treasuring God In Your Traditions (by Noel Piper) but had forgotten about until Christy pulled out the recipe for her boys birthdays this year. So we had a fun birthday breakfast morning!! We opened more gifts and went around the table and said all the things we loved about our Gracie.
I know she's 2 so who knows what sunk in...but I know she knew it was HER day and that she is so loved and valued in our family. She ate it up I think!
SG's birthday table...Jackie, what do you think??
I love how excited she was when she walked into breakfast!!
The breakfast birthday cake! (don't worry, with cake in front of them, they
were asking for cereal...creatures of habit like their mama!)
New "fop fops"! Her favorite!
After breakfast we loaded up and headed out for our first visit to
the Phoenix Children's Museum.
Then we went to have lunch no where
else but Chickfila!! (fun that we got to celebrate with Alyssa!)
It was so fun to celebrate her all day long as a family. I always loved that growing up,
when you got everyone's attention all day long. We love you so much, Gracie!
